NutriValue Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what NutriValue collects, stores, and uses when you use the mobile application.

Information We Collect

When you create an account, Firebase Authentication stores your email address and authentication record. Your NutriValue profile may store your name, language preference, favorite products, dietary preferences, allergy restrictions, and shopping-list data. The app does not store your plain-text password.

NutriValue stores nutrition diary entries, water intake, weight entries, goals, recipes, theme settings, and guest-profile data such as favorites locally on your device. If you use the app without an account, it opens an anonymous Firebase session: a random identifier generated by Firebase, not linked to your name or email, that lets the app read shared prices. If you submit a product report or price correction, that submission is stored in Firebase Firestore with the account identifier needed to prevent abuse and review corrections.

How We Use Your Information

We use this information to authenticate accounts, maintain user profiles, save favorites and settings, support nutrition tracking features, review product reports, improve product and price data quality, and respond to support or legal requests.

Data Storage and Security

Account and shared contribution data is stored with Firebase services. Local diary, recipe, weight, water, theme, and guest data is stored on your device using the app's local storage. Once a day the app also checks Firebase Hosting for updated product data; like any request over the internet, this makes your IP address visible to that service. We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate for the data we process.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to operate the app, such as Firebase/Google Cloud, or with legal authorities when required by law. The app does not include an advertising SDK.

Your Rights

You may access, correct, or delete your account data. Use Settings > Delete Account to delete your NutriValue account and clear local app data from the device. Shared product reports or price corrections may remain in aggregate or review records without your account profile where retention is needed for service integrity or legal reasons.

Cookies and Tracking

The app uses local device storage to remember preferences and nutrition-tracking data. NutriValue does not use browser cookies inside the mobile app.

Children's Privacy

NutriValue is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the updated version in the app and changing the "Last updated" date.
